How to clean your phone case?

Matte silicone cases are really popular due to their soft and nice-to-touch material.

In addition to the original appearance, they are as soft and practical as transparent. The material is also porous and also gets dirty – it can absorb dirt that is not easy to wash.

If you do not clean your case in time, remove stains from rubber will be difficult. Using aggressive or abrasive tools can overdo and wipe off with the paint. We asked phone case technologists how to clean phone case with matte cover and want to share their answers with you.

1. Special cleaning products

Stains from a pen, marker, coffee, juice, red wine, etc. are considered difficult. Best to remove them such types of phone cases with special color away cleaning products. But if you do not have them at hand, try to remove stains with what you have at home.

2. Eraser

Clean the case with a soft eraser. Spots can get into it:

  • from the pen;
  • pencils’;
  • paints, etc.

The eraser is safe for surfaces made of matte silicone, including “anti-slip” cases with Soft Touch coating.

3. Soap solution

Prepare a warm concentrated soap solution:

  • from liquid soap;
  • detergent;
  • shampoo’s;
  • dishwashing products;

Wipe the stain with a cotton pad soaked in the solution; if necessary, you can repeat several times.

4. Toothpaste

Gently moisten the case under a stream of warm water. With a cotton swab or an old toothbrush, apply the paste to the stain so that a foam forms. Soak for 10 minutes, rinse. Repeat if necessary. This secret you can use, whenever you ask yourself “how to make white leather white again”. For white cases, whitening toothpaste is also suitable.

5. Bleach with chlorine

You can use Clorox to bleach the phone case. This way is super good for white cases. It is used only in diluted form according to the instructions on the label. Put on rubber gloves, moisten a cotton pad in the solution and wipe the case from the edges to the center. On the spot, if necessary, wait for a few minutes, but not too long.

Careful! When used in colored or printed areas, it is highly possible to wash off the color.

6. Baking soda

Dilute a teaspoon of baking soda with warm water until it forms a thick paste. Moisten the surface of the phone case, apply a good layer of soda. After drying, check the result. It is clean, but not enough ‒ repeat.

Keep in mind that under the influence of soda, color can also become less bright. Do not rub the stain with soda, as this is an abrasive and scratches may appear on the cover.

7. Food acids: vinegar or lemon juice

Moisten a cotton pad with lemon juice or vinegar and remove stains from rubber. If necessary, repeat after drying.

8. Vegetable or vaseline oil

Can dissolve stains:

  • from markers;
  • oil and acrylic paints;

Moisten a cotton pad and wipe the stain. Superglue stains can be wiped off by dripping oil on it and leaving it for a while (up to an hour, if necessary – repeat).

9. Antiseptics

For minor contamination, alcohol-free antiseptics are suitable – for example, chlorhexidine or 3% hydrogen peroxide. Apply with a cotton pad without first diluting with water.

Chemical solvents – such as white spirit, etc. – are highly likely to erase the paint or print from the matte silicone cover, so we do not recommend using them.

10. Alcohol

The same can be said about alcohol-containing solutions and napkins-the print may suffer. Use this method on plain cases, and on printed ones carefully and only if there is very strong contamination.

11. Tools for cleaning phone screen

12. The acetone solution

A proven method for cleaning matte silicone cases from complex stains with acetone-based nail polish remover. It is recommended for areas, where there is no print.

Conclusion

For wiping, use a foam sponge or – gently – a soft-bristled toothbrush in addition to cotton pads. With their help, you can get rid not only of the stain but also of dirt on all surfaces.

In the end – gently wash off the working solution with warm running water. Then wipe the case dry with soft textile or microfiber.
